The Giudecca Canal is less than a 150 ft away and it is for me the most spectacular canal in Venice because it us about 1/2 mile wide and is a true shipping canal.
Of course there are the small picturesque canals all around, but for light and air,the Giudecca Canal cannot be beat!!
Plus the Giudecca Canal is lined with a wide and gracious walkway that widens to quite a commercial walking boulevard about 600 ft to the northeast of the little Calle that provides access to the apartment. This means that one of the few supermarkets in Venice(tiny but very helpful) is within walking distance as well as many restaurants, gelateria shops, and cafes.
